Quarterly Riddle Contest:

The riddle for July, August and September looks for a specific category of food we (nearly) all enjoy:

What type of food do we normally associate with fleurons?
Question Mark

GOOD LUCK! Stop in to enter your answer sometime during this July, August, or September.

The last riddle went as follows:
Which of the following are you very unlikely to find on a dinner table? Champignon, Capsicum, Caisson, Chalice, Chalupas, Challah. The correct answer to the last riddle was: Caisson, which is an ammunition wagon. All the others were either foods or dishes. Our winners for the past three months were Jeff Acker of Evansville, Jen Slade of Newburgh, and Claudie Parson of Crossville, IL. Congratulations to all three of you!

(To enter our little contest, you will have to stop in and write your answer on a proper entry form, which will include your name, address, and phone number. On the first of each month we empty the entry box, separate all the correct answers, put those back into the box, and draw one winner per month. The prize is a $25.00 gift certificate, good for class registrations or merchandise.

We will also accept suggested questions. Simply write your suggestion on the back of your entry form. If we use your question, you will also win a $25.00 gift certificate.

There is a limit of one entry per household per month! We will also allow only one winner per household per calendar year. The winners’ names will be published, along with the correct answer, in the next quarter).

Keep your edge in the kitchen! Sharpen your Knives!

Three KnivesKnife Sharpening Services - KITCHEN AFFAIRS now sharpens your fine kitchen knives. We will examine your knives and evaluate their worthiness, re-grind the edges of those we can, (we can’t do some types of knives, or scissors, or other implements), and have them ready for pick-up 2 to 3 days after you drop them off.

We charge $2.50 per knife; and it’s a bargain, if you have good knives you’ve neglected until now. Why not bring them in, and let us take a look at them? (We may need to decline work on some knives, and are not able to sharpen scissors, hatchets, single-beveled edge blades or other edged tools).

Red BowGift Suggestions - We’ll help you find just the right item, in your price range, without being “pushy” or trying to “stretch” your gift-giving budget. We're ready to help!

May we suggest an author-autographed cookbook, one of our new styles of aprons, either for holiday or every-day wear, one of our “green” bamboo or teak cutting boards, a portable magnetic induction burner, or a ceramic baking dish (we have various styles).

Some of you will remember when we carried a line of cutlery with the Kitchen Affairs logo stamped on the blade. We loved that line, and were proud to put our name on our own brand. We have made arrangements with one of the finest manufacturers of forged cutlery in Europe to again produce those knives with our name. We hope you will stop in and let us show you why we are so proud of them. They are excellent cutlery, at excellent prices for the quality, and we think you will truly appreciate the quality. Please come let us put one in your hand. You just may want to tell Santa about them.

Cookware and cutlery remain our strongest sellers every year, as our customers increasingly appreciate the quality of the brands we sell: All-Clad, Chantal, Le Creuset, Lodge, Scanpan, Swiss Diamond, and Viking cookware, and Kyocera ceramic knives, along with Wüsthof-Trident cutlery.
