DEENA STOVALL is an Evansville native and former caterer who now lives north of Chicago, but comes “home” to visit family and friends often and usually manages to find time to teach for us while she’s here. Since we’ve been friends for over 20 years, we love having her, and so do her students and former customers.

On Saturday April 12 at 9:30 a.m. Deena will demonstrate once again why she is the “queen of cute” when she asks you to “Please Be Seated” ($50). This class is all about the table; from the settings, both formal and informal, to decorations, to arranging the plates themselves, and of course the food. We’ll enjoy a Marinated Chicken Salad with Spinach and Strawberries, some Toasted Cheese Crisps made from Deena’s freshly baked yeast bread, and for dessert, Almond Crisp Sandwich Heart Cookies (with a chocolate center and a caramelized almond topping). Every time Deena offers a class in setting a gorgeous table it sells out quickly. This one will too.

On Sunday, April 13 at 1:30 p.m. Deena will present some new Entertaining Spring Desserts ($50). These are all new recipes you’ll love to serve. Beginning with Seriously Chocolate Pie (intense and layered), we’ll also have a Cool & Creamy Two-Layer Key Lime Pie, and some delightful Fresh Berry Tarts with Blackberry/Cherry and Strawberry/Rhubarb fillings.

Deena will be bringing more of her cookbooks for you to buy (second printing!), so if you don’t already have one, plan to get one. It’s really well done and the first printing sold out quickly.
