MARY REZEK , although a long-time staff member, has only recently begun teaching classes for us. Mary is a full-time librarian who loves books, cats and good food, although not necessarily in that order. Mary is a big believer is keeping things quick and simple. The two classes on this schedule are designed to make your life in the kitchen quicker and tastier, every day!

On Sunday, April 27 at 1:30 p.m. Mary will repeat her class in Microwaving For Smarties ($45). We’ll learn to cook fish, steam artichokes, make lemon curd, barbecue chicken, steam vegetables, cook new potatoes (with dill), and more! The microwave was invented more than 50 years ago to be a kitchen time saver. Are you cooking in yours, or just doing frozen dinners? You need this class.

On Saturday, May 31 at 9:30 a.m. Mary will offer her terrific class in How-To Food Processor Techniques ($40). This class is a revival of classes we taught 20 years ago, in how to use a food processor to chop, slice, dice, crush, grind and purée. This is the most popular appliance in our kitchen. We almost never make a meal without using it, and if you’re not making maximum use of yours, you’re wasting a lot of time and effort. Let Mary show you how to amaze your family and friends with the results your food processor can produce. While this is not a big eating class, you will be served bread, fruit fluff, salad, and cake; all made using the food processor. Don’t miss it!

Both these classes are great for starting cooks, for singles who want to be able to cook and eat well when cooking for one or two, and for those of you who are looking to make good food in a hurry for a hungry family, and who isn’t?
